Answer: You will have noticed that the poem rhymes, for example let/set;  been/screen; drunk/junk etc.  You probably noticed that every line rhymes, and that almost all the rhymes come in pairs. This  particular rhyme formation is known as rhyming couplets.

Rhyme helps to create patterns of sound in poetry, and give poems a musical quality. Rhyme appeals to us: it  helps us to remember poems, and we can often guess or predict the rhyme –which we find satisfying. Rhyme helps readers to focus on the words – and is used here, alongside the rhythm,  to underline the humour of the poem.
